Frea Consulting's Cognos Installation Service draws on years of consulting and installation experience gained whilst working at Cognos and a major Cognos partner. With the goal of providing your business with a rapid and cost-effective route to a fully implemented, tested and supported software deployment.
ENSURING SUCCESSFUL INSTALLATIONS
You have already invested heavily both financially and in time to ensure that your Cognos implementation is a success, when you book Frea Consulting for your technical expertise we ensure this success by providing a reliable and solid foundation at installation and upgrade time.
Success comes from ensuring that the Planning, Installation, Configuration and Testing of your environment are all completed and documented. To assist with ongoing support and maintenance we will also provide documentation of your configuration settings.
INSTALLATION PLANNING
During an Installation Planning day, should you find this necessary, we will meet with both the Business Users and the I. T. Department of your company to ensure that the needs of the business and the policies of the I. T. departments are aligned, and to ensure that everybody understands what is required in both hardware, software and support terms.
The installation planning meeting will be followed up with a Pre-Installation Questionnaire document that will confirm some details about the software architecture and also collect the details of the hardware and operating system configuration to identify any potential issues prior to the installation booking.
INSTALLATION, CONFIGURATION AND TESTING
On the day of the installation we will again meet briefly with your I. T department and any other interested parties to discuss the work to be carried out and any changes that may have occurred and what impact they may have, we will then begin work on the installation, noting key details throughout the day that will be included in our installation report. Other details that may be in the installation report would include details of the system testing carried out that prove the components of the software are correctly configured.
Before leaving we ensure that each of the components in your installation are tested to confirm that the installation was successful and that each of the products and servers are communicating as they should be.
KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER
If your business has identified that support will be provided in the first instance by your internal I. T support team then we can provide knowledge transfer to existing support team members to help with their understanding of the Cognos Software and the installed environment, this can be performed during or after the installation depending on your requirements.
ADDITIONAL SERVICES
Installation manuals are included with the software installation discs but some clients may require more detailed or customised documentation perhaps with customised screen shots for disaster recovery purposes, in these circumstances additional day(s) can be agreed for the production of customised documentation beyond the standard installation report.
As well as new installations we can also perform system expansions or upgrade an existing installation, our Technical Consultants will discuss your requirements and assess your existing installation before offering recommendations on the best way to expand or upgrade your installation.
If you already have some existing Cognos products and are introducing a new member of the Cognos product suite, we can also work towards integrating these systems, many of the products now have the ability to transfer data between them. We can carry out any necessary work that enables the different systems to communicate whether they reside on a single physical server or on separate servers.
